A&T at Duke Helmet Stickers

Duke took care of business this past Saturday night as they defeated North Carolina A&T 49-20. Duke was able to play a lot of guys which made helmet stickers a little challenging this week. But here are our helmet stickers for the A&T game:

BRIAN’S PICK: JORDAN MOORE

My helmet sticker this week goes to QB/WR Jordan Moore. If you had told me at the beginning of spring ball that Moore would enter the 4th week of the season leading the team in touchdown receptions, I would have called you crazy. But here we are, as Moore has caughts a touchdown in every game so far this season, and is 3rd (you read that right) in team receptions. While most players who would have been put in Moore’s situation would have immediately hit the transfer portal, Jordan took the challenge on head first, and has been one of the biggest contributors so far this season. I look to see the same results against Kansas this weekend.

JAMIE’S PICK: RILEY LEONARD

My helmet sticker goes to QB1 Riley Leonard this week. He continued his incredibly-efficient play this week against NC A&T. He has completed 72% of his passes this year. It was more of the same Saturday night. He only threw 12 passes last night, but he completed 11 of them for 155 yards, and 2 touchdowns. He averaged nearly 13 yards per completion. That’s a huge number.  He also ran the ball 5 times for 66 yards. Including a big highlight reel 56 yard touchdown run. Riley talked about this being a simple RPO in the post game press conference, and he made a great decision to keep the ball. I wanted to mention one other thing about Riley. He showed some real leadership qualities in the post game presser. When asked about his one interception, he immediately said that’s on me. Great kid. Great leader. We have a tough test coming up in Lawrence Saturday, but I have no doubt that Riley is up for the challenge.

JOSH’S PICK: DEWAYNE CARTER & AENEAS PEEBLES

My helmet sticker goes to interior defensive linemen DeWayne Carter and Aeneas Peebles. This duo combined for the most impressive defensive play of the night. With 7:00 to go in the first quarter, Peebles beat the center from A&T off the line. This worked perfectly with the RPO call on the A&T side as Peebles hit QB Jalen Fowler and knocked the ball out. His fellow lineman, DeWayne Carter, immediately scooped it up and ran 33 yards for the BIG MAN touchdown. And we are always here for a big man touchdown. Also shoutout to Peebles, who was a part of yet another sack/forced fumble later in the game with Brandon Johnson.

SCOTT’S PICK: JAYLEN STINSON

My helmet sticker is going to go Junior DB Jaylen Stinson. He took the opening kickoff 67 yards against NC A&T to set up the first score for Duke. He also is averaging 33.5 yds per return on the season. You will find him flying all over the field on defense for Duke as well. Stinson finished game with 6 tackles, 5 solo, with 1.5 for loss and a sack which helped lead to Duke’s 49-20 win over A&T.
