The 5 Deep series affords fans a way to get to know Duke Football players on a deeper level. This week, we spoke with starting TE Nicky Dalmolin.
DFBT: What has been your favorite class at Duke University and why?
Nicky: My favorite class has been a screen writing class. I got to write a screenplay for a movie that I kind of made up. I wrote about a war movie.
DFBT: What is your favorite stadium to play in other than here at Wallace Wade?
Nicky: I think Virginia Tech is a great place to play. I played there last year. Enter Sandman obviously brings huge hype walking in to that, so that is definitely my favorite place to play other than here.
DFBT: Walk us through your favorite three-course meal.
Nicky: For the appetizer, I’m going to have to go with chicken wings (probably BBQ). For the main course, I’ll do a nice (medium rare) ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus. And for the dessert, I’ll go with a classic chocolate cake.
DFBT: You’re on a deserted island, and you can take one book, one TV series, and one movie with you. What are you taking?
Nicky: For the book, I’m going to say Harry Potter. TV series is Game of Thrones. Movie…I’ll go Prisoners with Jake Gyllenhaal.
DFBT: As you watch the tight end position continue to evolve in football, who are some NFL guys that you find yourself watching the most and why?
Nicky: I like watching Travis Kelce. He is a great route runner, blocker, and overall player. I also like watching George Kittle. Those are two guys I try to resemble in my game the most.
I am so proud of this young man. I had the honor and privilege of being his math teacher in 7th grade. I love watching #81 play ball.
